Maybe he's the kind of person who rocks out so much that he needs to able to cool off quickly and easily? Oh, and also the kind of person who pays no attention to weather reports, at all.

Indeed, I believe I might be a different species than the above. I am the "if you like this band, then you will love the band on my t-shirt."

Though I own a Sleater Kinney, Replacement AND Wilco T-shirt which clearly falls into the "see how cool I am" category.

Unless it's October and REM is playing at Jones Beach. Then I wear layers. Though I heard of one dude who went in khaki shorts and a button down short sleeve shirt. What kind of person would THAT guy be? :)

That's a shame about the Bad Brains shirt — I agree, that would have nailed it nicely. On the other hand, if you get a shirt tonight, it will come in very handy in case Bad Brains tours again.

I'm seeing Living Colour tonight for the sixth time, and have been tempted with two bad sartorial impulses:

1) Dress in the band's current style. If this was 1989, it would mean dressing in a neon wetsuit. Nowadays it's brightly colored button-downs and skinny ties. This impulse is bad because I am not a handsome black rock star. Bad on three levels.

2) A blaxploitation t-shirt I got when I saw Cinematic Titanic riff "East vs. Watts" live. Although I wear this shirt all the time as an irony-free souvenir, if I saw someone wear it at a Living Colour show, I'd think the person was trying too hard to send off an "I'm cool with black culture" vibe. Also, negative points for perceived irony.

I used to have a Bad Brains shirt that hit the sweet spot (Class III, category 1). I wore it to death. I also had a killer Class I, category 2 shirt (long sleeve abstract design from the Stain tour when I was in college). Not the perceived heyday (that's now), but coolest shirt they ever made.

I'll likely throw on whatever's clean and be done with it.
