I think another element is that Hollywood producers just tend to be flashier than their counterparts in other media. There were studio tycoons before TV even existed, it's as close to old money as the entertainment industry gets.

They like to publish the numbers that look the best, and inflation makes the gross numbers look the best.

If they started reporting out butts in seats, that might lead them to do the smart thing and charge less for movies that nobody wants to see, which would bring more people into see them (which would incidentally increase revenue). And we don't want them to start doing the smart thing now, do we? Not in an industry with such a storied history.

Very cool. Just fyi, "fluorescent" is different than "glow-in-the-dark". The former requires an active sourse of excitation while the latter glows on its own after being energized. Black light cats ate still pretty cool, though!

Aw shoot, the guys at Pacific Tech developed this in the '80s. It's 6 megawatts and it's hotter than the sun. Really, Europe, really?

My own theory on the matter is that by the year 2111, babies will be a common item found in convenience stores and supermarkets. And they will be delicious.
